CCISB has imparted 35 trainings for building capacity of its members as well as for strengthening the local community in urban and rural areas so that they can carry out the risk assessment and micro action planning on their own to prevent and mitigate the impact of hazards and reduce the degree of vulnerability.
CCISB has also carried out capacity building through awareness campaigns in 10 villages of Bihar while carrying out Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction activities with AIDMI in response to 2007 and 2008 floods of Bihar.
Recently, CCISB carried out water conservation awareness trainings to create awareness at community level in 5 villages of Danta block of Banaskantha district of Gujarat.
CCISB has organized many exposure visits for experience sharing of small businessmen, for example, from Kashmir to Gujarat and Gujarat to Kashmir; and from Tamil Nadu to Gujarat. Apart from this, the exposure visits of beneficiaries of different districts within Gujarat were also organized for experience sharing and it enabled them to learn from each other’s experience. A similar exposure visit was organized for 2001 Gujarat earthquake affected beneficiaries to Bihar floods affected areas. Such exposure visits provided platform to the small businessmen to meet the same group of beneficiaries of different states and to know and learn how they recovered from disaster loss.
